The first reference I made with the drawings that I gathered beforehand is the front view. Since I started, I wanted to give my character a hoodie and rolled up sleeves. When one makes reference for modeling, the character is drawn in a "T"-pose, which means a front view of it with it's hands stretched in the sides. However, another pose that can be used for this is the "M"-pose, which I went for. This way, the character looks more relaxed and natural and when I start modeling it, I can get his body form better. |
Reference ChangesAfter a bit, I decided that the face I was looking for should be a little bit sharper and looking more confident and strict.
The addition of the beard, the eye scar and changing the eyes did the difference great. |
Little additionsOn the final model I added just some small things like the zipper (Looking like a clock), a Sand Watch on his sweatshirt and pockets.

Likewise, I did the side references. After rethinking how the modeling was about to go, however, I decided to make a unhooded version of it. Added the changes from the front view version and made the head look realistic in shape and proportions. Since I wasn't satisfied with how the hooded version was looking, I searched for a more intense and sharp looking character. First thing that came up to my head was the Assassin's Creed game series. I have played most of them and love their characters. The following one was used as a reference to mine:
