Modeling the main bodyBeginning is hard every time you start something. After you get up to speed though, you can start enjoying what you do.
Since my last year's modeling interest, I have a bit of knowledge how Maya works in this term. I have modeled some small things just to see how they turn out. Luckily, I still remember some of it and I hope it will help me. I started watching the tutorials that were suggested to be followed for the module and began to shape the main body. The main body was supposed to be made from a cylinder. This took me a while but eventually I got to the point where I like how it looks. |
Since I made the proportions a little bit cartoony, the hands were easy to make because they are short and bulk. The palms, however, took a little bit more time. The tutorial showed how to make a three finger hand but I wanted to adapt it and not do the same hands so I tried making them with four fingers. Luckily, it worked well and I was ready to attach them to the hand.

When I started liking the smoothed version I moved on to the hands. Since I have an M-pose character reference, I first did them according to the reference and then I brought them up so that I can connect them and shape them nicely.

Palms and fingers
The thing that took me a while to fix was the attaching itself. Because the deleting of the faces that go in the palm from the fingers wasn't shown in the tutorial, I didn't think about it and the smoothed version looked wrong. After I deleted them, though, it worked nicely and they were ready to be attached to the other part of the hands. |
